abstract The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition for skin whitening that helps to prevent pigmentation that may occur due to individual genetic characteristics. More specifically, it relates to a cosmetic composition comprising, as an active ingredient, a salmon-derived proteoglycan that inhibits the production of proteins that cause pigmentation and inhibits melanin synthesis expressed by OCA2 and MC1R genes. The cosmetic composition according to the present invention can prevent pigmentation that may occur due to individual genetic characteristics, including salmon-derived proteoglycans, and inhibit melanin synthesis to effectively improve pigmentation.
