abstract | The present invention provides a synergistic composition of nematicides comprising a combination of chalcones having potent nematicidal and nematode-inhibiting properties, i.e., a combination of chalcone 17 and chalcone 25, or a combination of chalcone 17 and chalcone 30. . Chalcones individually show 100% nematicidal activity at concentrations as high as 10 -2 to 10 -3 M, whereas the combination of chalcone 17 and chalcone 25 or the combination of chalcone 17 and chalcone 30 exhibits 10 -4 to 10 It exhibits 100% nematicidal activity at concentrations as low as -6 M, providing a synergistic effect, wherein the ratio of chalcones is 1:1. Combinations of these chalcones also exhibit potent nematode inhibitory activity compared to each chalcone individually. These synergistic nematicidal compositions are environmentally safe and non-toxic to humans and animals. |
