abstract | The present invention relates to a process for cryogenic distillation of an air feed to produce an oxygen product, in particular an oxygen product of medium purity (80-99%, preferably 85-95%). The method uses auxiliary low pressure columns in addition to conventional high pressure columns and low pressure columns. This auxiliary low pressure column is preferably operated at the same pressure as the main low pressure column, and is thermally integrated with the top of the high pressure column by a reboiler / condenser at the bottom thereof to reserve crude liquid oxygen from the bottom of the high pressure column.
