abstract An ultraviolet absorbent material prepared by reacting (a) an aminosilane compound of formula (1) or a derivative thereof and (b) an ultraviolet absorber having a carboxyl group in the molecule to form an amide bond derived from an aminosilane compound or derivative thereof.n n n Formula 1n n n n n n n n In the above formula,n n n R 1 is a C 1 -C 10 alkylene group or a divalent group of formula (CH 2 ) m-NH- wherein m is an integer from 1 to 4,n n n R 2 may be the same or different and each is selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a halogen atom, a C 1 -C 10 alkyl group and a C 1 -C 10 alkoxy group, provided that at least one of R 2 One is an alkoxy group,n n n n is an integer of 0 or more.n n n Such materials form an ultraviolet absorbing layer and can be advantageously applied to ultraviolet-absorbing glass (ultraviolet absorbing plates), optical devices and light regulators.
