The invention comprises at least a housing containing a sensing electrode 22, a counter electrode 44, 44A, a test electrode 24, and an electrolyte means in contact with these electrodes 22, 24, 44, 44A. It relates to a gas sensor. This housing allows gas to flow from the atmosphere to the sensing electrode 22. The gas sensor generates a gas in which the test electrode flows to the working electrode in normal operation mode where the potential is applied to the electrodes to detect when a gas to be sensed is present in the sensing electrode or whether the sensor is operating correctly. Can be operated in a test mode of operation in which the potential is applied to the electrodes. |
