abstract | The present invention relates to a method for purifying calcium ion-binding proteins by cation exchange chromatography. The present invention provides a method for separating and purifying calcium-binding protein in a simple and efficient manner from a liquid sample comprising calcium ion-binding protein and contaminants without pretreatment such as adding a chelating agent. More particularly, the present invention provides a method for purifying calcium ion-binding protein comprising contacting a protein with a cation exchange carrier in the presence of calcium ions to adsorb the calcium ion-binding protein to the exchange carrier, and eluting the protein after washing. Methods, and substantially free of calcium ion-binding proteins obtained by the methods of the present invention. |
