titleOfInvention | Processes for the preparation of a carboxylic anhydride and use of the carboxylic anhydride as an acylation agent |
abstract | The present invention provides a catalyst as a) a source of a Group VIII metal; b) bidentate diphosphine represented by the following formula (I); c) a process for preparing carboxylic anhydride by reacting carbon monoxide and carboxylic acid with an ethylenically unsaturated compound in the presence of a catalyst containing a complexing anion, the complexing anion being an anion of carboxylic acid:n n n Formula In n n n n n n n Wherein R 1 represents a divalent radical, which is a 2-phospha-tricyclo [3.3.1.1 {3,7}] decyl group, or a derivative thereof, which is optionally substituted with an attached person; Wherein at least one carbon atom is substituted with a heteroatom (“2-PA” group); R 2 and R 3 independently represent or combine a monovalent radical of up to 20 atoms to form a divalent radical of up to 20 atoms; R represents a divalent organic crosslinking group. The present invention also provides a process in which the carboxylic acid is prepared in situ and the use of the carboxylic anhydride as an acylating agent. |
