abstract |
The method of forming the fibers into a web includes coextrusion of the first elastomer component and the second thermoplastic component; Sending the first and second components through a fiber spinning pack to form a plurality of continuous molten fiber spinlines, wherein the first elastomeric component is present in an amount greater than about 70% by weight of the molten fiber, The second thermoplastic component is present in an amount between about 10 and 30 weight percent of the molten fiber; Thinning the spinline and directing a plurality of molten fibers through a quench chamber to form a plurality of cooled fibers; Directing the plurality of cooled fibers through a fiber pulling device to pull the fibers downward; Allowing the pulled fibers to deposit on the forming surface whereby the fibers form a relaxed web; Stabilize the web; Bonding the web to produce a web that exhibits a machine direction elongation recovery greater than about 25%. |
