The present invention provides a material for an organic electroluminescent (EL) device having high luminous efficiency, high thermal stability and long life, and an organic EL device using the same. The material for organic electroluminescent element consists of a compound of a specific structure which has a nitrogen ring. The organic EL element has an organic thin film layer composed of at least one layer including at least a light emitting layer, sandwiched between the cathode and the anode. In the organic EL device, at least one layer of the organic thin film layer contains the material for the organic EL device. |
