The present invention relates to alkylation conditions of benzene with a catalyst comprising zeolite beta or a molecular sieve having an X-ray diffraction pattern comprising a maximum d-spacing value at 12.4 ± 0.25, 6.9 ± 0.15, 3.57 ± 0.07 and 3.42 ± 0.07 Hz. To a process for producing phenol and methylethylketone comprising contacting with a C 4 alkylating agent to produce an alkylated effluent comprising secondary-butylbenzene. The secondary-butylbenzene is then oxidized to produce hydrogen peroxide, which is then broken down to produce phenol and methyl ethyl ketone. |
