abstract The present invention relates to a data communication system between heterogeneous communication devices of a substation and a method thereof. As a protocol converter is installed between an intelligent electronic device and a remote monitoring controller, the protocol converter is based on a fieldbus transferred from the remote monitoring controller. Based on the data list and the IEC-61850-based data list, generate mapping tables mapped between heterogeneous data corresponding to each other, and search for heterogeneous data mapped with the requested data by referring to the mapping table when relaying request data. After the transfer to the device by converting the protocol of the response data obtained from the heterogeneous communication device according to the result, it is possible to communicate between the heterogeneous communication devices in a simple manner.
