abstract A control algorithm is provided for controlling the economizer circuit in the chiller. The control algorithm adjusts the position of the supply valve in the economizer circuit in response to the measured device operating parameters to maintain the level of liquid refrigerant in the flash tank of the economizer circuit. The measured device operating parameters may include the load applied to the compressor and the pressure and temperature of the refrigerant in the flash tank.
