Diffusion mechanism of heated volatiles with dye-based consumption indicator |
abstract |
Heated volatile diffusers provided with automated dye-based consumption indicators are disclosed. Multiple movable dyes of different colors are located adjacent to the porous substrate. Heating of the substrate causes both the impregnated chemicals to diffuse out of the plate and also cause both the indicator dyes to migrate to one or more visible positions. One dye moves to the visible area faster than the other dyes. Continued heating can cause one or more dyes to change color in the visible region. The migration of the dye provides information about the degree of consumption of the impregnated chemical. |
