abstract In one embodiment, the payload of multiple threads between the IP (intellectual property) cores of the integrated circuit is transmitted by buffering the payload using the number of order queues. Each of the queues is guaranteed with access to the minimum number of buffer entries that make up the queue. Each queue is assigned to a separate thread. The number of buffer entries that make up any queue is increased above the minimum by borrowing from a shared pool of unused buffer entries according to the first-come, first-served principle. In another embodiment, the interconnect is content addressable with shared storage for multiple logical, multi-threaded ordered queues buffering requests and / or responses routed between data processing elements coupled to the interconnect. Implement a memory (CAM) structure. Other embodiments are also disclosed.
