abstract The composite photonic structure element includes a photonic crystal and a multilayer film. The photonic crystal is formed by alternately stacking an active layer having a nonlinear effect of converting a fundamental wave into a second harmonic and a plurality of sets of inactive layers having no nonlinear effect, and the energy of the fundamental wave coincides with the end of the photonic bandgap. do. The multilayer film is formed by laminating a plurality of sets of two kinds of thin films having different refractive indices and reflects fundamental waves. The multilayer film is bonded to both sides of the photonic crystal. The fundamental wave is incident from one end face, and the fundamental wave is reciprocally reflected between the resonators having the multilayer film, whereby the intensity of the fundamental wave inside the photonic crystal is enhanced. In the active layer, the fundamental wave is converted into the second harmonic, and the second harmonic is taken out from the other end face.
