The accessory unit includes a front cover and a back cover. The back cover includes a recess defining a chamber and a lip extending around the opening of the chamber. The chamber is configured to receive a consumer electronic device, and the lip is configured to hold a consumer electronic device therein. The back cover may include a shell formed of glass fiber reinforced plastic and a lip formed of a thermoplastic resin. The front cover may include segments formed by panels with fold regions therebetween, which causes the front cover to collapse. In addition, the distal region of the front cover can be hingedly coupled to the rear cover, so that the front cover can be moved between the open configuration and the closed configuration. A method of manufacturing an accessory unit is also disclosed. |
