In certain embodiments, there is also provided a method of reducing the risk of, reducing the severity of, or delaying the onset or progression of a disease characterized by beta amyloid deposits in the brain of a mammal. In certain embodiments, the C-terminal truncation of APP that directly or indirectly enhances sAPP [alpha], decreases A [beta], p-Tau and results in the formation of APP-C31 peptide and APPneo (APP664) , A method of improving memory is provided.
