One-pot method for preparing a silicone-acrylic hybrid pressure-sensitive adhesive composition |
abstract |
The present invention relates to a one-pot method for preparing a single-phase silicone-acrylic hybrid adhesive composition comprising an acrylic polymer and a silicone polymer covalently bonded through a -Si-O-Si- linkage. The acrylic polymer contains at least one hydrolyzable silane (meth)acrylic monomer or siloxane (meth)acrylic macromonomer. These functional moieties provide reaction sites that form -Si-O-Si- bonds by reacting hydrolyzable groups in the silicone polymer in the presence of a base or acid catalyst and water. The covalent bond formed between the two incompatible systems of the silicone polymer and the acrylic polymer prevents phase separation, resulting in a permanent homogeneous single-phase system. |
