abstract The present invention relates to the thermal disposal of offgases having at least two different carbon monoxide contents (CO content) generated in synthesis gas production and/or synthesis gas processing, in particular of high temperature synthesis gas and cryogenic low temperature carbon monoxide. An elevated flaring system in a syngas production plant for simultaneous flaring or combustion. According to the present invention, a rising flare system comprises: (a) a first offgas pipe arranged perpendicular to a horizontal line and made of a first material and an offgas having a first CO content to the first offgas pipe a supply conduit, (b) a second offgas pipe arranged perpendicular to a horizontal line and made of a second material and a supply conduit for supplying an offgas having a second CO content to the second offgas pipe, ( c) the first offgas pipe and the second offgas pipe are arranged coaxially and open into a common burner at their upper ends.
