Variants of a precursor alpha-amylase are described that exhibit an alteration in at least one of the following properties in relation to the precursor alpha-amylase: specific activity, substrate specificity, substrate binding, substrate cleavage, thermal stability, dependent activity pH, pH dependent stability, oxidative stability, calcium dependence, pI, and washing performance. Variants are suitable for starch conversion, ethanol production, laundry washing, dishwashing, hard surface cleaning, textile dewatering, and / or sweetener production. |
