| abstract | The present invention relates to endolysin variants comprising an endolisin to which a stretch of membrane-disrupting peptide or LPS activity is fused. Moreover, the present invention relates to nucleic acid molecules encoding the modified endolysin variant, vectors comprising nucleic acid molecules and host cells comprising either nucleic acid molecules or vectors. In addition, the present invention relates to a method of producing the endolysin variant. In addition, the present invention relates to the modified endolysin variant for use as a medicament, in particular for the treatment or prevention of infections by Gram-negative bacteria, a diagnostic medium, disinfectant or as a cosmetic substance. The present invention also relates to the removal, reduction or prevention of contamination by Gram-negative food bacteria, food processing equipment, food processing plants, surfaces that come into contact with food, medical devices, of surfaces in hospitals and surgeries. In addition, the present invention relates to the use of the endolysin variant as a diagnostic means in medical, food or forage or environmental diagnosis. Finally, the present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising the modified endolysin variant. |
