titleOfInvention FABRIC FABRIC AND PROCESS TO PRODUCE IT.
abstract The present invention relates to a more suitable woven fabric as a base fabric for airbags, in which the ripple of the selvedge has been reduced by inhibiting the woven openings of the edge portions of the selvedge from receding during high density fabric and which is excellent in terms of smooth processability and even of the coating capacity in the stages of carving, drafting and coating, and is also excellent in terms of the cutting capacity and sewing capacity. A process to produce the woven fabric is also provided. The woven fabric uses synthetic fiber multifilament threads as the inner threads. This woven fabric includes in the woven parts of the selvedge of the edge parts: a return gauze thread consisting of a filament having a fineness of 33 dtex or less; and a selvedge adjustment thread consisting of a multifilament thread having a total fineness that is 80% or more of the total fineness of the inner threads. In a process to produce the woven fabric, the filaments with a fineness of 33 dtex or less, are used as a return gauze thread and an additional thread to form the woven parts of the selvedge and the edge parts of the woven fabric for carrying out the fabric, while a multifilament thread having a total fineness that is 80% or more of the total fineness of the inner threads, is being inserted as a selvedge adjustment thread into each knitted part of the selvedge.
