APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE OUTPUT SPEED OF A HYDROSTATIC UNIT IN A HYDROMECHANICAL TRANSMISSION. |
abstract |
The output speed of a hydrostatic unit in a transmission is determined using a pair of variable reluctance sensors, one in a gear driven by the output of the hydrostatic unit and the other in the carrier of the planetary system. One of the two sensors will always be measuring a relative higher speed of which the hydro output is directly determined or indirectly determined using the current motor speed. Therefore the frequency of the speed sensor for determining the output speed of the hydrostatic unit is not decreased at slow output speeds of the hydrostatic unit. |
