Anthraquinone dye compounds (dyes) are described, which are thermally stable, which contain one or more vinyl groups that make the compounds capable of being copolymerized with reactive vinyl monomers to produce colored polymeric compositions such as acrylate polymeric materials and methacrylate The compounds have good fixation (stability) to ultraviolet (UV) light, good solubility in vinyl monomers, good color strength and excellent thermal stability. Also described is (1) a coating composition comprising (i) one or more polymerizable vinyl compounds, (ii) one or more of the coloring compounds described above and (iii) a photoinitiator; and (2) polymeric materials, that is, polymer derivatives of one or more esters of acrylic acid, one or more esters of methacrylic acid, one or more other polymerizable vinyl compounds or mixtures of any of two or more of them, which have one or more of the anthraquinone dye compounds copolymerized there. |
