The present invention relates to a system and method for treating a hydrogen-rich gas stream and a carbon dioxide-rich water stream under pressure. The invention also relates to a method for producing a methane gas. The system according to the invention comprises: a closable pressure vessel provided with an inlet for supplying a flow to be purified and/or treated, wherein the pressure vessel is designed to carry out an oxygen-free conversion of the flow to be purified and/or treated into, inter alia, methane gas; feeding, at least one outlet for discharging products from the pressure vessel, a control system for controlling the process based on the relationship between produced methane gas and supplied hydrogen gas and carbon dioxide dissolved in an aqueous stream, and energy generating means for controlling and/ or generating usable energy with at least a portion of the formed methane gas. 25 |
