Disclosed are compounds of formula (I) and processes of making them wherein: R1 and R2 are independently unsubstituted phenyl, or phenyl which is mono-, di- or tri- substituted as defined, or R1 and R2 together with the carbon atom to which they are attached form a 10',11'-dihydro-2,5'-[5H]dibenzo-[a,d]cycloheptene residue; R3 and R4 are independently H, halogen, OH, alkyl, alkoxy, perfluoro-alkyl, alkanoyl or cyano; R5 is H, alkyl, alkylsulfonyl, cycloalkyl-alkyl or hydroxyl-alkyl; R6 is Y-R8, alkyl, alkoxy, hydroxyl-alkyl, lower alkyoxy-alkyl, alkylaminocarbonyl-alkyl, heterocyclyl, cycloalkyl, phenyl, or phenyl-alkyl, wherein the phenyl moiety may be mono-, di- or tri-substituted as defined; R6 his H when X is -C(O)- or -SO2--; or R5 and R6 together with the N to which they are attached form a 4-7 monocyclic or 8-12 membered bicyclic, saturated or unsaturated heterocyclic ring as defined in the specification; R7 is H, halogen, alkyl or cyano: R8 is phenyl, cycloalkyl, heterocyclyl or heteroaryl; X is a single bond, -CH2-, -C(O)-, -SO2- or -SO2NH-; Y is -CH2-, -C(O)-, -NH- or -SO2-. Compounds of the type disclosed are useful for the treatment or diseases associated with the modulation of CB1 receptors. |
