Disclosed is a quinazoline derivative of formula (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof: wherein, R2 is hydrogen or alkyl; R3 is alkyl or dialkylaminoalkyl; Y is -(CR11R12)-, phenyl or a thiophenyl; R4 is hydrogen, halogen, alkoxy, ethylsulfanyl, cyclopropylmethoxy, cyclopentyloxy or alkylamino; R5 is hydrogen or alkyl; n is an integer in the range of 1 to 4; p is 0 or 1; wherein heteroaryl is heteroaromatic or non-aromatic; and the remaining substituents are as defined herein. Also disclosed is a pharmaceutical composition which comprises a compound as defined above for inhibiting the growth of cancer cells. Further disclosed is the use of a compound or salt defined as defined above for the manufacture of a medicament for inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, wherein the medicament may also be formulated for use in combination with an anticancer agent (such as cell signal transduction inhibitors, mitosis inhibitors, alkylating agents, antimetabolites, antibiotics, growth factor inhibitors, cell cycle inhibitors, topoisomerase inhibitors, biological reaction modifiers, antihormonal agents and antiandrogens. |
