abstract This invention is directed to the (S) -enantiomer of the compound of formula (I), named as (3´S) -1´ - {[5- (trifluoromethyl) furan-2-yl] methyl} -2H, 6H- spiro [furo [2,3-f] [1,3] benzodioxole-7,3'-indole] -2 '(1'H) -one, (FUNAPIDE), or a pharmaceutically acceptable solvate or prodrug thereof. This (S) -enantiomer is useful in the treatment of diseases or conditions, such as pain, that are ameliorated or relieved by modulation of voltage-gated sodium channels.
