abstract Liquid oxygen (OL) and nitrogen gas (N2MP) are remixed in an almost reversible way into an auxiliary column (3); argon-free rich liquid (LR1) taken at an intermediate location from said auxiliary column (3) is remixed in another auxiliary column section (4) with impure nitrogen of the head of the low pressure column (6), and the head gas of said auxiliary section forms a residue (R1) of the plant. Application to the production of argon.
