abstract | The invention relates to a process for the preparation of N-trifluoroacetyl-N-phosphonomethylglycine derivatives of general formula I: wherein R represents an alkyl group of 2 to 10 carbon atoms or chloroethyl, R 1 represents a 1-alkoxy radical. 3 carbon atoms in the alkyl phenoxy radical, phenylthio, 1 to 3 carbon atoms in the alkylmorpholino radical, N-methylaniline, R 2 represents an alkylthio radical of 1 to 2 carbon atoms in the alkylphenoxy, phenylthio, substituted phenoxy optionally with halogen and methyl isopropylamino, N-methylaniline, N-piperidinoamine, with the proviso that R 1 and R 2 do not represent the same group consisting of a N-trifluoroacetyl N-phosphonomethyl-glycine ester of the general formula II : where R has the meanings as in formula I is reacted by nucleophilic displacement of the general formula III wherein R1 and R2 are as defined in formula I in the presence of a solvent and selected from tetrahydrofuran, ethyl ether, benzene and in the presence of triethylamine as the acid acceptor, under anhydrous conditions at room temperature. |
