abstract 1. A desktop dishwasher comprising: (a) a tank (10) for containing items to be washed; (b) a lid (12) forming a waterproof casing over the tank (10), said casing comprising a fixed part (14) of the casing and a swivel a door (16) connected to the fixed part of the casing with the possibility of rotation between the raised, open position, which provides access to the tank, and the lowered, closed position, in which the door forms part of the waterproof casing; (c) locking means (38, 40) that are in a locked state and made to hold the door (16) in the closed position; and (d) a spring mechanism (54, 58, 62) that ensures that the door is partially open in the intermediate position when the locking means are unlocked, while in the intermediate position the door forms a gap to ventilate the casing. 2. The machine according to claim 1, in which in the intermediate position the door (16) forms a gap of at least 20 mm, and preferably from 30 to 50 mm. The machine according to claim 1, in which the spring mechanism comprises a first spring socket (58) associated with a fixed part (14) of the casing, a second spring socket (62) associated with a pivot door (16), and a spring (54) made with the possibility of engagement with the first and second spring sockets when the door (16) approaches the closed position. 4. The machine according to claim 2, in which the spring mechanism comprises a first spring socket (58) associated with a fixed part (14) of the casing, a second spring socket (62) associated with a pivot door (16), and a spring (54) made with the possibility of engagement with the first and second spring seats, when the door (16) approaches the closed position
