abstract FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: invention describes a method of synthesis β--(5-nitrofuryl)-acrolein. Method involves hydrolysis of 5-nitrofurfurol diacetate to 5-nitrofurfurol followed by condensation of acetic aldehyde with 5-nitrofurfurol in solvent. Concentrated acetic acid is used as a solvent. Process is carried out for a single stage. The synthesized compound is used for synthesis of furagin and furacrylin used for treatment of bacterial infections.
