FIELD: organic chemistry, antibiotics. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to 6-demethyl-6-deoxytetracyclines of the formula (I) where R - halogen or NR 1 R 2 when R 1 - hydrogen, R 2 - methyl, ethyl, n-propyl; or when R 1 - methyl or ethyl, R 2 - methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, n-butyl; R 3 - hydrogen, C 4-8 -alkyl; R 4 - hydrogen, methyl ethyl; W - hydroxylamino-group, C 7-12 -alkyl-monosubstituted amino-group or R 3 and W taken together mean -(CH 2 ) n (R 5 )N-; n = 3; R 5 - trifluoroacetyl, or their pharmaceutically acceptable salts or metal complexes. Compounds of the formula (I) show antibiotic activity with respect to broad spectrum of organisms including that showing resistance to tetracyclines and they are useful as antibiotic agents.
