abstract |
FIELD: optical fiber laser amplifiers. SUBSTANCE: amplifier is made of fiber 1 with two concentric cores 2 and 3; inner core 2 is amplifying medium and core 3 is used for pumping. Pumping radiation is transmitted from multimode source 4 and coupled crosswise relative to optical axis of fiber 1 with outer core 2 through multimode fiber 6 and multimode coupler 5. Pumping radiation is propagated over outer core 3 and is coupled with amplifying core 2 thereby pumping active medium. Composition of amplifying material is chosen so as to provide for pumping within comprehensive range of wavelengths. Both coherent and incoherent pumping sources may be used.
