abstract FIELD: petroleum processing. SUBSTANCE: petroleum products are identified using reagents for developing color and fluorescence of markers added to petroleum products. Method involves preparation of petroleum product sample containing base-sensitive marker and addition of reagent containing quaternary alkylammonium base, which is prepared by dissolving base in fuelsoluble nonaqueous solvent. Developing reagent is added to the sample without extraction of marker thereby enabling interaction of reagent with marker resulting in appearance of color and fluorescence.
