abstract | FIELD: medicine; pharmacology. n SUBSTANCE: described method of stereo-specific production of 3(3-hydroxy-5β-H steroid sapogen or its derivatives by reduction of 3-keto,5β-H-steroid sapogenine with steric unfavoured organ-borane. 3β-Hydroxy,5β-H- steroid sapogenine or its derivative can be produced by reduction of 3-keto,5β-H- steroid sapogenine with relatively high steric unfavoured organ-borane reagent used as reducing agent, or by S N 2 transformation of 3α-hydroxy,5β-H- steroid sapogenine or its derivative.
