| abstract | FIELD: mining. n SUBSTANCE: swellable packer with controlled swelling rate comprises a core; a rubber arranged around at least a portion of the core and comprising material swellable upon contact with the swelling agent. A liner is applied on the outer surface of the rubber providing portions of the rubber outer surface coated with liner and portions of the rubber outer surface not covered with liner. The liner is made substantially impervious for the swelling agent. Retaining covering layer is applied on the liner and on the mentioned uncovered portions of the rubber outer surface.
