FIELD: pharmacology. n SUBSTANCE: proposed two-component zinc delivery composition comprises (i) the first component comprising a zinc-amino acid-halide complex wherein the amino acid is lysine and zinc is not a tetrabasic zinc, and (ii) the second component containing oxidized cysteine in free form or in the form of an orally or cosmetically acceptable salt. The first and second components are kept separated from each other prior to dosing and combined for application to the body. A method for killing bacteria that cause an unpleasant odor, reduction of perspiration and/or odor of sweat includes mixing the two components of the above composition, further comprising a cosmetically acceptable carrier and an being antiperspirant or deodorant product. The method for killing bacteria on skin comprises mixing of the two components of the above composition, further comprising a cosmetically acceptable carrier in the first component, the second component, or both, and is a personal care product selected from liquid hand soap, shower gel, skin lotions, creams for skin and conditioners for skin. A method for reduction of biofilm and plaque formed by bacteria comprises mixing of the components of the above composition further containing an orally acceptable carrier in the first component, the second component, or both, and being an oral care product. n EFFECT: effective delivery of a zinc-containing complex to the body by rapid precipitation, which occurs when the two components of the composition are mixed. n 20 cl, 2 tbl, 8 ex |
