INHIBITED POWDER AND A WAY TO MANUFACTURE IT |
abstract |
The powder granules are coated with a material which is relatively non-explosive and harder to burn. The coating is dissolved in a solvent that has a lower boiling point than the water bath which is used for the coating process (or which forms an azeotrope with water). The temperature is raised and the solvent eveporates, pptg. the coating on the grains. The grains are then filtered from the water bath and dried. The inhibiting coating is oxaoline wax or a micro crystalline wax having a melting point between 70 and 300 deg.C. |
