titleOfInvention | Method of producing sulfur trioxide |
abstract | The invention relates to methods for the oxidation of sulfur dioxide and trioxide and can be used in the production of sulfuric acid. The purpose of the invention is to expand the range of concentrations of the process gas while simplifying the process. The oxidation is carried out in the main layer of the catalyst, operating in a transient mode, and the additional oxidation in the additional layer located in the same apparatus. When applying the initial mixture, for example, valves 7 and 10 are open on top, the rest are closed. As the mixture passes through the bed, a certain temperature profile is formed. At the end of the cycle, the direction in the main layer is reversed, the gas mixture is displaced for 8–20 s. from the main layer 2 to the additional layer 3. At the same time, valves 8, 11, 14 are open, the rest are closed. At the end of the displacement regime, the upper chamber, as well as the apparatus with an additional layer, is filled with a mixture with a low content of sulfur dioxide. After 8 - 20 s. open valve 9 by closing valves 11 and 14. The degree of oxidation of SO 2 is 96–98%. 1 il. |
