The alpha-amino hydroxamic acid derivative in formula (I) is defined, wherein R in the formula is halogen, nitro, low acyloxy, trifluoromethoxy, cyano, C3-C5-cycloalkyl or a group selected from O, S and M, or unsubstituted or substituted C3-C5-heteroaryl containing two heteroatoms; mono-, di-, or trisubstituted C2-C7-alkyl; or, in each case, unsubstituted or halogen, nitro, lower aloxy, trifluoromethoxy, cyano, C3-C5-cycloalkyl or C3-C7-alkenyl or C3-C7-alkynyl with unsubstituted or substituted C3-C6-heteroaryl containing one or two heteroatoms selected from the group consisting of O, S and N. And other symbols are as defined in Claim 1. These compounds are MMP and especially MMP2 inhibitors and can be used for the treatment of MMP-dependent diseases, especially inflammatory conditions, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, tumors (tumor development, metastasis, progression or invasion) and pulmonary discomforts (eg emphysema, COPD). |
