abstract |
The described embodiments are generally directed to optimizing airflow in a computer system. By modifying the outer surface of the centrifugal cooling fan housing, the pressure drop associated with the airflow moving around the housing can be reduced. This reduction is typically achieved by rounding the hard edges from the exterior of the cooling fan housing and forming a cover surface rather than simply using a flat cover surface. In some cases, this reduction may also involve modifying the shape of the fan inlet or even contouring the cooling fan blades to allow air to flow more easily through the computer casing. |
