abstract The present invention relates to a vat dye that is covalently bonded to a polymeric moiety. The invention further relates to a process for the manufacture of such vat dyes, and to the use thereof in compositions for dyeing or printing textiles, which composition can be used in particular for the manufacture of markings or security features. According to a preferred embodiment, the polymer portion increases at least one of solubility and dispersibility of the vat dye in a polar solvent medium.
