titleOfInvention Improved chrome tanning method
abstract It is inevitable to use water during leather manufacturing because it is important for the diffusion and distribution of chemicals in the animal skin matrix. Since higher volumes of water are used in each unit process, the discharge of wastewater increases accordingly with pollutants. The present invention relates to a chrome tanning method that avoids the use of water for acid-free alkalization. Use auxiliary chemicals such as fatliquors to enhance the absorption of chromium during the tanning process. In addition, the use of salt and alkalization methods is avoided in the new method. The functional and strength properties of tanned leather are equal to those of conventionally treated leather. The new invention is dedicated to utilizing the inherent moisture in animal skins for tanning to reduce the pollution load for sustainability.
