abstract An electromagnetic wave filter to be disposed in front of a plasma display panel for cutting electromagnetic waves emitted by plasma discharge, which combines the ability to shut off electromagnetic waves and the ability to shut off near infrared rays and has durability required for practical use. A transparent electromagnetic wave shield film is formed by depositing a 41 nm-thick zinc oxide layer, 11 nm-thick silver base layer, 76 nm-thick zinc oxide layer, 12 nm-thick silver base layer, 74 nm-thick zinc oxide layer, 12 nm-thick silver base layer, 76 nm-thick zinc oxide layer, 11 nm-thick silver base layer, and 39 nm-thick zinc oxide layer in this order on one side of a glass plate by sputtering. A PET film is adhered to the electromagnetic wave shield film with a pressure-sensitive adhesive to protect the same. The silver base layers each contains 0.4 atomic % palladium. The electromagnetic wave shield film has a sheet resistance of 1.3 Ω/□ and the filter has a light transmission of 8% at a wavelength of 850 nm.
