abstract The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device capable of displaying an image with a wide viewing angle and a high color reproducibility. The liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal cell, polarizers provided so as to oppose each other via the liquid crystal cell therebetween, a phase compensation element provided between the liquid crystal cell and at least one of the polarizers, and an antiglare layer provided on the viewer side of the polarizer which is provided closer to the viewer.
