abstract In devices and methods for calibrating nuclear medical and radiological images, an apparatus may be placed in the field of view of a region of interest to be imaged. The apparatus may include a background material with an attenuation characteristic substantially similar to a region of interest of an object being imaged. The background material may include one or more radioactive material embedded in the background material such that when the device is scanned substantially at the same time as the region of interest, the apparatus is a calibration tool.
