The disclosure relates to methods for dyeing keratinous fibers by applying, to said fibers i) at least one entity chosen from ortho-diphenol and derivatives thereof, ii) at least one metal salt, iii) hydrogen peroxide or at least one system which generates hydrogen peroxide, iv) at least one (bi)carbonate, and v) at least one basifying agent that is not a (bi)carbonate.
