abstract | Methods and compositions for enhancing the resistance of plants to oomycete plant pathogens are provided. The methods involve decreasing in the plant or part thereof the level of a remorin, particularly a remorin that is known to occur in the extrahaustorial membrane that is formed in a host plant in response to an infection by one or more oomycete plant pathogens. Compositions comprise plants and plant cells with a reduced level and/or activity of at least one remorin in the plant or part thereof when compared to a control plant or part thereof.
