A CATAYLST FOR USE IN THE POLYMNERIZATION OF ETHYLENE OXIDE IS PREPARED BY CONTACTING AN ALKALINE EARTH METAL HEXAMMONIATE WITH A CYCLIC IMINO ETHER IN THE PRESENCE OF AN EXCESS OF LIQUID AMMOINIA AT CONDITIONS SUCH THAT THE AMMONIA REMAINS IN THE LIQUID STATE. THIS CATALYST PREPARATION MAY ALSO BE CARRIED OUT IN THE PRESENCE OF A NORMALLY LIQUID INERT HYDROCARBON SOLVENT. |
